OIL CHANGE A vey important factor for any safety of our car is regular maintenance of all its parts. For better performance, your car’s engine oil need be changed regularly. If we fail to start this, eventually the oil reduces as well as your filter become blocked with contaminants that may affect the smooth running to your car. The frequency of oil change depends upon the kind of car along with your driving lifestyle. Changing oil on your behalf car is guaranteed economical but it is advisable to keep some things at heart when you will decide to oil change solely. Allow me to share a handful of steps for changing the oil in the car:- • Assemble all of the required equipments crucial for any modify Open End wrench New oil New oil filter Funnel Old catch container Clean cloth Bad weather begin with the process only after your engine cools down for one or two hours. Don’t try to change your oil while the engine is hot as the warm oil will burn you profusely. Next make sure you have a solid level ground to jack up your car safely. You could also put a cardboard under the engine incase of spills. Always make sure you have the required equipments at hand reach before you begin. • Draining the Old Oil The first step is to drain out the old oil from inside the engine. At the bottom of the engine there is a big blot which needs to be opened to drain out the old oil. Make sure you place an old container beneath it so that most of the old oil drains into the container. Wait till every one of the old oil drains out and then replace the blot into the bottom of the engine. This may take some time but be patient. There are places where they recycle old oil. If you know of such a place, it is always better to give it there as disposing used old oil may be difficult and unsafe. Most of the service gas stations may recycle used old engine oil. • Remove the Old Oil Filter Next using an old filter wrench, turn the filter counter clockwise to remove it. You has to be careful as it is full of the old oil that may fall off. Depending on the model of the car, some filters can be accessed from the front, but most of the car engines have their filter accessed from under the car. • Attach the new old filter Before you install the new oil filter, grease the rubber gasket on the end of the filter with some new oil. Then fill the new oil filter to about 2/3 new oil. If you add more you may spill a bit when you screw up the cap. As the new filter has oil in it carefully screw it clockwise into place. You can screw it using your hand. If you use a wrench you may over tight it which may strip its threads and cause a leak. Similarly, the screws should also not be loose as it may cause a leak too. So just tighten it till your hands can turn it no more. • Fill the new oil Next, you can open the oil fill cap and pour in the oil using a funnel to avoid any spills. Find out from your owner’s manual how much oil your engine holds. Fill in the required amount of oil. Then you must check the oil to know the oil level. If you think it is less than the required amount then you should add more until you are satisfied with the oil level. Make sure you close the filter with the oil cap. This is very important as we may forget to do that and the result will be disastrous. Spare enough time to do the oil change as it has to be done slowly and carefully. Make sure you don’t do it in a hurry as it may result in a disaster. Take your time and do the above explained steps in a safe environment. HAPPY DRIVING!
